Stuttgart Alliance for Integration
As early as 2001, the Stuttgart City Council adopted the "Stuttgart Alliance for Integration" (opens in a new tab). This strategy paper describes how equal opportunities and participation of migrants are to be improved and names the most important fields of action in integration policy.
Develop and coordinate integration measures
The integration officers develop and manage integration measures, initiate projects and coordinate networks. In doing so, they work closely with the municipal offices, with authorities, independent sponsors and migration associations.
The Integration Policy Department (opens in a new tab) organized the establishment of the Welcome Center of the state capital Stuttgart. It continues to accompany and support its work professionally.
You want to become a Welcome Sponsor?
Since February 2015, there have been WelcomePatrons who support new immigrants and their families on a practical and emotional level: They accompany them to public offices, they speak and practise German with the newcomers, they support them in their job search and application process and are helpful during their first steps in life in Stuttgart.
The content, duration and locations of the support are determined by the new residents together with the Welcome Mentors.
The advisors at the Welcome Center Stuttgart recognize the need of the new citizens for individual support. The WelcomePatrons are recruited by the Integration Policy Department of the City of Stuttgart and are prepared for and supported in their tasks in seminars and reflection meetings.
You are welcome to get involved if you are interested. Anyone who would like to help newcomers take their first steps in Stuttgart and the surrounding area is eligible.
