Job-related German courses
If you live permanently in Germany, would like to improve your German language skills and orient yourself on the training or job market, you can attend job-related German courses offered by the BAMF. In order to participate in the courses, you may need the approval of the Job Center or the Employment Agency.
The vocational language courses according to § 45a teach German for the job in basic and special modules. They can be attended following an integration course. The courses lead up to levels B2, C1 and C2 and include subject-specific German.
The courses are primarily open to people who are registered as job seekers or unemployed and who are staying in Germany permanently, as well as asylum seekers with good prospects of remaining in Germany. Courses for employees and trainees can also be offered. You can find all the information from the BAMF here. (opens in a new tab)

German for students
The language of instruction at the universities in Stuttgart is mostly German. Therefore, you need a good knowledge of German for your studies. But German is also useful for students in international programs. This is because everyday life is easier with the national language.
In order to enroll in a German-language program, you must present certificates of sufficient German language skills. The situation is different in international study programs, where teaching is mostly in English. In any case, it is good to know German. This way you will make friends faster, settle in more easily and have better chances on the job market.
Since every university and every course of study has different requirements for German language skills and may only accept certain certificates, you should ask the university or institute directly.
