The social services department for people with chronic illness or disability is part of the department of child, youth and dental health, social services of the health department and is primarily the contact for people who, in addition to massive health restrictions, have other problems in their lives, such as poverty, debt, unemployment, addiction, mental illness, violence, inadequate housing situation, migration problems. The aim of the work is to support people with chronic illness, to strengthen and make accessible their personal resources and self-help forces, as well as to strengthen the possibility of participation in society. The social service is divided into an adult and a children's team. In addition, the Central Information and Counseling Center (ZIB) for children with support needs is part of the department.
