Measles Protection Act

The range of tasks performed by this organizational unit, which is part of the Infection Control department, is multifaceted. Multi-resistant pathogens (MRE), against which hardly any antibiotics are effective anymore, are on the rise worldwide. The World Health Organization (WHO) now sees antibiotic resistance as a serious threat because it significantly reduces success in combating infections. The Stuttgart MRE Network, with numerous stakeholders from the healthcare sector, serves as a joint exchange to prevent the further spread of MRE in Stuttgart facilities. The Stuttgart Health Department provides advice on all aspects of vaccinations. The small prick is one of the most effective measures to prevent infectious diseases. Modern vaccines are well tolerated, and undesirable side effects are rarely observed. The Measles Protection Act is designed to promote protection against measles in kindergartens, schools and other community settings, as well as in medical facilities. The team checks for evidence and compliance with the law. The Baden-Württemberg Cancer Registry has the task of continuously and uniformly processing personal data on the occurrence and progression of cancer, including its early stages. The health department is responsible for checking and recording the information from the confidential part of the death certificate for electronic transmission to the State Statistical Office. Information on cancer cases contained therein then flows into the cancer registry and thus contributes to improving the data basis for cancer epidemiology. Pandemics are worldwide epidemics with (novel) pathogens capable of causing severe disease and spreading well from person to person. Measures to prevent the further spread of the pathogen are laid down in so-called pandemic plans. The public health department prepares and processes plans to combat pandemic pathogens at the local level in cooperation with other stakeholders from the public health sector.
